GMDSS-Global Maritime Distress and Safety System

Global Maritime Distress Safety System, known as GMDSS, was put into force in 1992 by IMO. This meant that for all ships covered by the SOLAS convention it was a mandatory requirement to install one 406 MHz float-free EPIRB, two radar transponders and two portable VHF¡¯s.
We can provide reliable and professional communication products for commercial vessels,

  • Based on IMO¡¯s regulations and the SOLAS 1974 convention
  • EPIRB-Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon Operates on the SARSAT/ COSPAS frequency 406 MHz.
  • Radar Transponder designed for use in search and rescue operations and gives the exact location of the distressed indicated on the radar X-band display of any nearby ships, SAR vessels and aircrafts. Major classification society certificate can supply.
  • Hand Portable VHF Radios These radios have met the GMDSS regulations

VDR-Voyage Data Recorder

IMO's Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) has with its Resolution MSC.163(78), made a draft amendment to Solas Regulation V/20:
"To assist the casualty investigations, the existing cargo ships, when engaged on international voyages, subject to the provisions of regulation 1.4, shall be fitted with a VDR which may be a simplified voyage data recorder (S-VDR) as follows:
1. In the case of cargo ships of 20,000 gross tonnage and upwards constructed before 1 July 2002, at the first schedule dry-docking after 1 July 2006 but not later than 1 July 2009.
2. In the case of cargo ships of 3,000 gross tonnage and upwards constructed before 1 July 2002, at the first schedule dry-docking after 1 July 2007 but not later than 1 July 2010.

  • Fully complies with IMO A861(20), IEC 61996, IEC 60945, IMO MSC. 163(78), IEC 61996-1/2 and IEC 60945,

SSAS

The SAILOR Iridium SSAS Box is dedicated to the alert system, but the SAILOR SC4000 Iridium Terminal can also be used for standard Iridium features, such as voice and data communications.
